With Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, and Bulacan on modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) from August 4 until August 18, Meralco assures its customers that it’ll still be business as usual.
There won’t be any interruption of services, particularly meter reading. Meralco business centers will also stay open to handle payments, concerns, inquiries, and service applications during the government-imposed MECQ period.
Spokesman Joe Zaldarriaga said Meralco appealed to local government and barangay officials to recognize meter readers as essential workers so they could be permitted to do their jobs amid MECQ.
“Rest assured this will be unobtrusive and the deployed meter readers will be in complete personal protective equipment, bearing in mind safety procedures. This will ensure that actual consumption for the month will be billed accordingly,” said Zaldarriaga.
He said Meralco will strictly implement protocols recommended by the Inter Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases to safeguard the health and safety not only of its workers, but its customers as well. The company is closely coordinating with the ERC and the Department of Energy regarding business operations continuation amid MECQ.
Meralco crews will likewise be on standby to respond to emergencies and reports, especially of service interruptions.
