Jab, not gab, should be the priority during this time that the pandemic caused by COVID-19, a still mutating virus that has claimed millions of lives worldwide, continues to rage.
“Going beyond the power and light we deliver, this current crisis calls for us to be beacons of reliability and hope. We are keeping the lights on for our front liners and affected Filipinos, and we are one with the government in overcoming this crisis,” Meralco President and Chief Executive Officer Ray C. Espinosa said.

Only recently, Meralco energized a new mega COVID-19 vaccination center at Nayong Pilipino in Paranaque City. The project involves the installation of six concrete poles, three 333-kVA distribution transformers, four spans of line conductors, and a new metering facility.

Meralco has ensured that hospitals and other essential facilities needed to combat this virus are kept energized even during times when electricity supply is precarious.
Latest government data showed that more than 13 million Filipinos have already received their vaccine shots, with over 3 million getting their second jab. The government aims to achieve herd immunity—or 70% of the population immunized—by the end of 2021.
"During these challenging times, Meralco remains always ready and will continue working with the energy sector to ensure that electric power remains uninterrupted, especially in health centers and vaccination storage facilities,” said Ronnie L. Aperocho, First Vice President and Head of Networks of Meralco.
“We are implementing all possible measures to distribute power round the clock especially to crucial installations such as hospitals,” Aperocho added.
The Nayong Pilipino mega vaccination center is one of the many vital COVID-19 facilities in the Meralco franchise area that the power distributor has given the highest priority in terms of providing safe, adequate, and reliable supply of electricity.
To date, more than 130 vital COVID-19 facilities have already been energized by Meralco which include government offices, hospitals, testing laboratories, quarantine and vaccination centers, and vaccine storage facilities.
Among these facilities are the Mega Field Hospital at the Rizal Park; Tondo Health Center that will be used as a vaccination center; We Heal As One Treatment Center in Pasay City; the Pharmaserv Vaccine Storage Facility and the COVID-19 Vaccination Facility in Marikina; the RT-PCR Testing Center in Makati City; the COVID-19 Treatment Facility in Malabon City; and the Solaire-PAGCOR Mega Quarantine Facility in Paranaque City.
