City of Dreams on Solar Power
This Casino Resort Turns to the Sun to Power its Sustainability Dreams
Spectrum equips them with the right system

It is their business to make people’s dreams come true, whether it is winning at a game of chance or living the fantasy staycation.
So when City of Dreams Manila says they are going to be sustainable by 2030, no one should bet against the house.
The luxury integrated casino resort has invested a cool P76 million to install a 1.2-megawatt solar-power system through Spectrum, Meralco’s renewable-energy subsidiary. The system is powered by 3,120 photovoltaic panels that will supply 20 percent of COD Manila’s total power consumption. Furthermore, it will reduce the casino resort’s emissions by over 1,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually.
“If we are going to do this, we are going to do it right and we are going to do it with a partner who can get the job done. We signed the contract with [Spectrum] less than eight months ago, and it is already fully implemented. In my four years in the Philippines, I've never seen a project roll out in the time span that it was working with Spectrum,” said COD Manila Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Kevin Benning during the project launch in January.
More significant green initiatives can be expected from the casino resort in the coming years as they believe that environmental sustainability just makes good business sense.
